Palworld breeding is a system that lets players combine two Pals to produce an offspring with traits from both parents. It is a key mechanic for creating stronger, rarer, or more specialized Pals to help with exploration, combat, or base tasks. By using the Palworld Breeding Calculator, players can predict exactly which Pal will hatch from an egg, saving time and resources.
What Is Palworld Breeding?
Breeding in Palworld originated as a way to allow players to multiply their Pals and potentially get better ones. In the game, you can build a Breeding Farm and assign two Pals to produce an egg. After a set time, the egg hatches into a new Pal. The species of the offspring is determined by the "Breeding Power" of the parents. Each Pal has a hidden Breeding Power number. The average of the two parents' powers points to a specific offspring Pal. For example, if Parent A has a Breeding Power of 1500 and Parent B has 1300, the average is 1400, which corresponds to a particular Pal species. The calculator does this instantly.
Why Breeding Matters in Palworld
Breeding is crucial for several reasons: obtaining rare Pals that are hard to catch in the wild, passing down useful traits (like faster work speed or stronger attacks), and creating Pals with high stats for challenging battles. Without breeding, players are limited to the Pals they find naturally. With breeding, you can build a team tailored to your playstyle. For PvP, breeding optimized Pals is essential – check out our guide on Palworld Breeding for PvP to learn how to dominate in player-versus-player combat.
How Breeding Works
The core of breeding is the Breeding Power formula. Every Pal has a unique power value (usually between 100 and 5000). When you breed two Pals, the calculator uses this formula:
Offspring Power = (Parent 1 Power + Parent 2 Power) / 2
Then it finds the Pal whose Breeding Power is closest to this average. That Pal becomes the offspring. For example, if you breed a Lamball (Power 1470) with a Cattiva (Power 1460), the average is 1465. The Pal with a power closest to 1465 is Chikipi (Power 1460? Actually, check – but for example we'll say Chikipi is 1460). So the egg hatches into a Chikipi. This shows how predictable breeding is. Common Misconceptions About Breeding
- "The offspring gets the best traits from both parents." Not exactly. Traits like stats and skills are inherited randomly, but the species is fixed. The calculator only predicts species, not stats.
- "You can breed any two Pals." No, only Pals of opposite genders can breed, and some Pals (like Legendaries) cannot breed at all.
- "Breeding always produces a rare Pal." Actually, breeding common Pals usually produces common offspring. To get a rare Pal, you need parents with specific powers that average to that rare Pal's power.
- "The Gender of the parents matters for offspring." No, the offspring's species depends only on the Breeding Power average, not which parent is male or female.
