Palworld Cake Recipe

Breeding runs on Cake. Here's the recipe, where to get flour, red berries, milk, eggs and honey, and how to set up a base that keeps the Breeding Farm fed.

Palworld Cake Recipe: Ingredients and Where to Get Them

You have a perfect pair of Pals in the Breeding Farm, one male and one female. You click the button and nothing happens. You forgot the Cake. Every breeding attempt consumes exactly one Cake, and without it your farm is decoration. The palworld cake recipe is straightforward: 1x Flour, 1x Red Berry, 1x Milk, 1x Egg, 1x Honey. You cook it at a Cooking Station, which requires a Pal with the Kindling work suitability assigned to it.

Breeding in Palworld is deterministic. The child Pal's species is calculated by averaging the hidden Breeding Power (BP) of the two parents, then finding the Pal species with the closest BP to that average. Your parents' levels and stats do not affect which species you get, only the child's starting level and stat inheritance. The only thing that stops you from running that calculation repeatedly is Cake supply. Run out of Cake, and your breeding chain stalls entirely.

Palworld Cake Recipe: Ingredients and Where to Get Them

The Cooking Station is the only structure that can produce Cake. You build it from the Workbench menu under Food. Assign a Pal with Kindling level 1 or higher, any Foxparks, Rooby, or Arsox will do, and open the crafting menu. Select Cake. As long as you have the ingredients in your inventory or your base's item box, the Cooking Station will produce one Cake per every few seconds of crafting time.

Every ingredient must be farmed or gathered. Here is where each one comes from.

How to Make Cake: Palworld Honey, Milk, Flour, and Eggs

Each ingredient has its own farm line. Do not try to gather these manually from the wild every time you need to breed. That route wastes hours.

Palworld Flour

Flour comes from a Mill. Build a Mill from the Workbench, assign a Pal with Watering work suitability (a Tanzee or Fuack works early), and put 1x Wheat in the Mill's input. The Mill grinds one Wheat into one Flour over about 30 seconds. Wheat grows from Wheat Seeds planted in a Crop Field. A Pal with Watering will automatically water the field. You need at least one Wheat field and one Mill running continuously to keep a breeding operation supplied.

Palworld Honey

Honey comes from Beegarde. Catch a Beegarde, they spawn in the first few areas of the map, around the starting plateau, and place it in a Ranch. The Ranch will produce Honey in its item box over time. A single Beegarde produces roughly one Honey every two minutes in real time. If you run multiple breeding pairs, you need multiple Beegarde in separate Ranches, or one ranch with multiple Beegarde assigned (the Ranch accepts up to three Pals). Cinnamoth and Elizabee also produce Honey, but Beegarde is the earliest and easiest to catch.

Palworld Milk

Milk is the trickiest ingredient because it only drops from a few Pals, and only when they are assigned to a Ranch. Mozzarina is the most reliable source. Catch a Mozzarina (found near water in the starting areas) and place it in a Ranch. It produces Milk in the Ranch's output box at a rate of roughly one every two minutes. Rushoar and Woolipop also produce Milk but are rarer. Do not rely on butchering Pals for Milk; ranching is consistent and renewable.

Red Berries and Eggs

Red Berries come from Berry Bushes planted in a Crop Field. One Berry Bush produces multiple berries per cycle. You need a Pal with Watering to keep the bush producing. Eggs come from Chikipi placed in a Ranch. Chikipi is the Pal with the highest Breeding Power in the game (1800 in version 1.6.0), so you likely already have several. Assign at least two Chikipi to a Ranch to ensure a steady egg supply.

A Cake Production Line for Your Base

You cannot breed consistently without a dedicated Cake production line. The most common failure mode is running out of Milk or Honey mid-session and realizing you have no Ranches set up.

Step 1: Establish Ranches

Build two Ranches. Assign one Mozzarina to the first Ranch for Milk. Assign one Beegarde to the second Ranch for Honey. Assign one Chikipi to either Ranch (the second ranch can hold two Pals) for Eggs. You now have a passive supply of all three animal-based ingredients.

Step 2: Plant a Wheat Field and a Berry Field

Build two Crop Fields. Plant Wheat Seeds in one and Berry Bush seeds (obtained from gathering wild berries) in the other. Assign a Pal with Watering to each field. Wait for the crops to grow. Harvest manually or let a Pal with Gathering collect the output.

Step 3: Build a Mill and a Cooking Station

Build one Mill. Assign a Pal with Watering to it. The Mill will grind Wheat into Flour automatically as long as Wheat is in its input. Build one Cooking Station. Assign a Pal with Kindling to it. Open the Cooking Station's menu, select Cake, and set a quantity. The Cooking Station will produce Cakes as long as all five ingredients are in your item box.

Step 4: Monitor Supply

Check your Ranches and fields every 10 minutes of real time. If any ingredient drops to zero, the Cooking Station stops. The bottleneck is almost always Milk or Honey, because you need multiple Pals producing them. If you run a single Mozzarina, you get roughly one Milk every two minutes, which means one Cake every two minutes. That is enough for one breeding attempt every two minutes. If you want to breed faster, add more Mozzarina and Beegarde.

The failure case: you place the Pals in the Breeding Farm and click the button, but nothing happens. Open your inventory and check you have a Cake. If you do not, the production line has a gap. Check each Ranch and field. The most common gap is an empty Mill because you forgot to plant Wheat.

How Much Cake Palworld Breeding Uses

Every breeding attempt consumes exactly one Cake. This is not per egg or per hatching; it is per click of the button in the Breeding Farm. The Breeding Farm produces one Huge Egg per attempt, and that egg goes into the Egg Incubator. The incubation time for a Huge Egg is roughly two minutes in real time (game version 1.6.0). While the egg is incubating, you cannot use that Breeding Farm again. You can build multiple Breeding Farms to parallelize breeding, but each farm still consumes one Cake per attempt.

A single breeding session from start to finish (place parents, produce egg, hatch egg) requires one Cake and roughly two minutes of incubation. If you want to produce a specific child Pal, you may need 10 to 20 attempts to get the correct passive skill inheritance from the parents. Passive skills have a 60% chance to pass from the mother, 60% from the father, and a 10% chance to be random. You cannot guarantee a specific set of passives; you must keep attempting until the child inherits the combination you want. That means 10 to 20 Cakes for a single high-value offspring.

The research data (Palworld wiki, datamined version 1.6.0) confirms that Cake is the only item that initiates breeding. No other food works. The Breeding Power list from the datamined files (cross-checked against paldb.cc and the Palworld Fandom wiki) shows that common Pals like Lamball (BP 1460) and Foxparks (BP 1750) have very high Breeding Power values, meaning they are useful as parents to produce mid-range children. Legendary Pals like Jetragon (BP 330) have low BP and require high-BP partners to reach a desired average.

If you are breeding for a specific Pal, you need the Breeding Power list. The list is ordered from lowest BP (Gobfin at 300) to highest (Chikipi at 1800). The child Pal is the one whose BP is closest to the average of the two parents. If two Pals have equal distance, the game uses a tie-breaking rule: the Pal that appears first in the internal list wins. This means you cannot rely on a simple "closest number" assumption; you need the exact order.

The number of Cakes you need for a breeding project depends on how many attempts you are willing to make. For a single copy of a common Pal, one Cake suffices. For a perfect passive skill set on a rare Pal, budget 20 to 30 Cakes. Build your production line to sustain that rate before you start breeding.

Who This Production Line Suits and Who Should Skip It

This Cake production line suits any player who wants to breed Pals reliably without stopping to forage for ingredients. If you are collecting all Pals, optimizing passive skill inheritance, or building a team of specific breeders, you need a steady Cake supply. The line described above, two Ranches, two Crop Fields, one Mill, one Cooking Station, produces roughly one Cake every two minutes once established. That is enough for casual breeding. If you are mass-producing a specific Pal, double the number of Ranches and fields.

Skip this approach if you only need one or two Cakes for a single breeding attempt. In that case, gather the ingredients manually from the wild: pick Red Berries from bushes, kill a Chikipi for an Egg, find a Beegarde and kill it for Honey, kill a Mozzarina for Milk, and gather Wheat from the wild. That will take you 10 minutes and produces exactly one Cake. Do not build a production line for a one-off breed.

The single thing that most often goes wrong: you start breeding, run out of Cake, and cannot find Honey or Milk because you never set up a Ranch. The Ranches take 10 minutes to build and assign. Do that first, before you ever put a Pal in the Breeding Farm.

Common Questions

What happens if I put two Pals in the Breeding Farm without a Cake?

Nothing happens. The button to start breeding will be greyed out or unresponsive. You must have at least one Cake in your inventory. The game does not consume the Cake until you confirm the breeding attempt, so you can check your inventory without wasting resources.

Can I use any food item besides Cake to make Pals breed?

No. Only Cake works. The Palworld wiki 'Cake' page and in-game crafting menu confirm that no other food item has the effect of initiating breeding. Do not waste ingredients trying alternatives.

How do I get Honey without a Beegarde?

Cinnamoth and Elizabee also produce Honey when assigned to a Ranch. Cinnamoth spawns in the same early areas as Beegarde, and Elizabee is a mid-game Pal. If you cannot find a Beegarde, hunt for a Cinnamoth near the starting plateau. Both are reliable sources.

Is there a limit to how many Cakes I can store?

No. You can store as many Cakes as you want in your item box or your base's storage. The only limit is your ingredient production rate. Build multiple Cooking Stations and Ranches if you need to scale up.

Does the parent's level affect the Cake cost?

No. The Cake cost is fixed at one per breeding attempt regardless of the parents' levels or species. A pair of level 1 Lamball costs the same as a pair of level 50 Jetragon: one Cake.
